Why I Created DizzyStop

Some years ago a friend of mine invited our family to go fishing on his sailboat out of the San Diego harbor. My boys, who were 9 and 11 at the time, were very excited to go. It was the perfect day for fishing, blue skies, and calm waters. Unfortunately, the trip was cut short when even before leaving the harbor my wife and children became quite ill with motion sickness.

A few months later we attempted the same trip again. This time we thought we would be smart and armed ourselves with seasickness pills. But instead of becoming ill, the motion sickness pills we took made the entire family tired and the kids ended up sleeping the entire time and once again could not enjoy fishing or sailing.

As it turned out my wife had a lifelong history of motion sickness from childhood. She could not ride in the back seat of the car or go on amusement park rides or sail on a boat or ride any conveyance facing backwards-including airplanes. This is due to a common condition which is benign but in which the balance canal signals [resting discharge] to the brain are slower than average. This results in the motion sensitivity that occurs with movements that stimulate the balance canals.

While I knew the condition was benign, it seemed that there should be a means of relieving the sensitivity without the debilitating side effects of the seasickness pills or patches that are prone to cause drowsiness.

A trip to China in 1986 exposed me to the benefits of herbals, acupressure and acupuncture for the management of benign vertigo and motion sickness. The Chinese herbalists have successfully used herbals for thousands of years. As I began to do more research I found that out that the Native American culture has also utilized herbals successfully for motion related sickness.

After examining the variety of herbals used, I studied the scientific literature to determine if there was scientific evidence to support the use of herbals in managing motion sickness, nausea and benign vertigo. I found the answer I was hoping for. There is firm scientific evidence for the beneficial use of herbals for the relief of motion sickness, nausea and benign vertigo. The next question that needed to be answered was-how can I develop a product that is safe and effective for use while still maintaining the integrity of the natural herbs. Some herbs when combined with medications may have an interaction that could be injurious.

Many of my patients take multiple medications for heart, high blood pressure, anxiety and other chronic conditions. It was essential to develop a product that would not interact with other medications and when taken would not have any side effects commonly associated with other motion sickness pills. And so I came up with the formula that is now DizzyStop®.

I began recommending the herbals that are now in DizzyStop, to my patients thirty years ago. I also started to lecture on the subject. My patients have experienced remarkable benefit without deleterious side effects over these years. This includes men, women and children. One of my partners is presently doing a study on the benefits of the herbals in DizzyStop® for a condition known as Benign Positional Vertigo.

On an anecdotal basis it appears to be effective. The results of the study will be published in the near future. At the beginning, my professional colleagues were dubious about recommending herbals for motion sickness and vertigo. I am now happy to say that over the years they too have recommended the herbals utilized in DizzyStop® on a regular basis. The formula that has benefited my patients for over 30 years is now available to everyone.

I created DizzyStop® to facilitate the purchase of a reliable combination of proven herbals to the general public, to promote a product that works without drowsiness and is safe and affordable. So whether it be room spinning dizziness or fishing trips with the family, now you can enjoy life without worrying about motion sickness and the more benign forms of vertigo.
